Karli & Nick's wedding is going to be gorgeous... with organic, earthy overtones and accents of burnt orange and chocolate brown. Sounds like a perfect, fall wedding to me!

A save the date is the perfect way to give your friends and loved ones a sneak-peek into how fabulous your wedding is going to be. And, naturally, it's a fantastic excuse to show-off how cute your fiance is, how huge of a diamond you are now wearing, and how head-over-heels in love you are! Brilliant.
Please feel free to squirm and wriggle in your chair as you are overcome with how precious these little boys are. Even as I was editing I couldn't help but keep saying, "AAAWWWWW!!!"

I know this was the longest post of all time but... I'm guessing there will be no complaints. :)
Jackson & Carter: you guys deserve more m&m's! It was wonderful to spend the morning with you! :)
Katy Vold.
Shut up. You are amazing. There are no other words. Truly beautiful and talented. I am such a fan. You are so great. I could go on and on, but I can't it would be too repetitive.
love you.

(03.29.09 @ 11:06 AM)I HAD NO IDEA YOU EVEN DID PHOTOGRAPHY LET ALONE SO AMAZINGLY!!!! I would have loved to have hired you for my engagement photos and wedding. You are a true artist and a beautiful one at that. God bless you!!
(03.29.09 @ 01:00 PM)Of course I'm partial to my own 18-mo. old boy, but these are adorable, esp. the ones with the hat on the younger boy. The great thing about children (especially boys) at this age is you can dress them up in anything and they usually won't fight you (like they do when they become husbands one day :-))
(03.29.09 @ 01:06 PM)Katy, it was so much fun hanging out and watching you work! I can't believe how awesome these photos turned out! You're so talented!!
(03.29.09 @ 02:01 PM)I love all of these pictures. Seriously, you do an amazing job. I love the pictures where Jackson's all up in Carter's face. So precious!
(03.29.09 @ 02:07 PM)Thank you Katy! These are amazing and we LOVE them. You are so talented! I can't choose my favorite... they are all so good.

(03.30.09 @ 06:27 PM)Katy... wow... I check your site all the time.. I absolutely loved these ones!
(03.30.09 @ 09:14 PM)For the past ten years, she has been battling with a rare heart disease that was causing her to pass out at least twice a day - every day. Stephanie is so honest and transparent, she'll be the first one to tell you that her circumstances haven't been easy to deal with. Fortunately, Stephanie was finally able to get a pacemaker (which I think is sooo incredibly cool) - allowing her to live a much higher quality of life. It's really incredible to think about what this girl has gone through and then to hear her talking about her latest outdoor rock climbing adventures! I'm amazed at what the Lord has already done in Stephanie's life and what he's continuing to do.
Stephanie is so full of life and has such a beautiful smile - you can't help but love being around her.
Oh... and she's absoultely gorgeous!!

Speaking of stories, I have another one. This evening, during out photo shoot, we stopped in a residential neighborhood to stand near some really cool cacti. As Stephanie stood there in all her gorgeous glory, 3 different cars (driven by young men) kept circling the block! These guys just had to get a closer look at this beautiful girl. One guy even tried to get up the courage to talk to her -- but he couldn't quite do it. Hey, I understand: beauty can be terrifying!
Steffie: thank you for the pure girl-time -- dressing up and playing with hair... so fun. And thank you for sharing parts of your life story with me; I've already learned a lot from you. I'm excited to learn more!
oh my goodness! you captured the pure essence of steffie...i was sooooo excited when she told me that you were going to be photographing her...absolutely gorgeous work
xoxo
These four girls are still vivid in my mind. Our team visited their school on a rainy day in Central Uganda and I got to spend a whole afternoon with them. That evening, as I was about to drive away, they grasped onto my hands and begged me to remember them, and I promised them that I always would.

There is nothing, nothing more beautiful than the African sky. The sun paints the world gold and enriches the earth's natural colors. Uganda is so open - and there are so few tall buildings, that the sky just seems enormous. There isn't a time of day or night when it doesn't pay to simply look up.

This is my absolute favorite photo from Uganda. I left the tent early in the morning so that I could enjoy the few moments of peaceful quiet. As the sun began to rise, these young girls began to emerge from the misty, tall grass. I watched them as they silently rummaged for their breakfast: fallen fruit beneath the gigantic mango tree. It wasn't long until one of the girls noticed me and brought a gift of the fiery orange fruit. We ate together, with smiles and laughter as our only common language.

What a fabulous series of photos. I love to see life in other parts of the world captured so well. I especially love the building and how stark the blue is set against the brickwork. I hope you add many more of your photos from Africa and other locales to your site.
(03.29.09 @ 01:12 PM)I had a Sid moment on Saturday...minus the blowing up toys part.
During the breakfast party, Sarah (Helen Keller) brought a package from the front door while I was slaving over some french toast. I saw the return address.... SPAIN! It was finally here... my portrait! I've talked about the artist, L Filipe de los Santos before here on my blog. He's an incredible artist - I just can't get enough of his work. It's such an honor to have this beautiful piece of art -- and the fact that it's a picture of me is just a bonus.
I just had to share the final product with you... the one on the left is the rough sketch and on the right is the final piece.

wow! that is SO nicely done. and an adorable picture.
